Bridging the
Digital Divide
Achieving Digital Equity
The digital divide is more pronounced in the rural southern border community of South Yuma County which is largely comprised of Latino and Indigenous, monolingual Spanish speakers, migrant and seasonal farmworkers, and new immigrants who have been historically underserved and excluded from opportunities.
Florecer works to achieve digital equity and bridge the digital divide by providing hands-on assistance and empowering students and parents with the digital tools, skills, and confidence they need to successfully navigate the college admissions and financial aid application processes.

Parent
Engagement
An engaged parent has the greatest influence on their child's future.
Florecer equips and empowers parents in their child's educational journey. FLORECER works to de-mystifying the college admissions and financial aid process. Financial literacy workshops allow parents and students to gain a better understanding of college costs and what resources are available to pay for college. Workshops provide financial literacy and guidance on scholarship searches and how to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Peer
Advisor
Program
Meaningful Mentorship
Peer Advisors are college students who serve as mentors, providing academic support and answering questions about the college experience. Peer advisors lead workshops to empower students and parents with the information they need to navigate the college admissions and financial aid application process.
